Fetal Pig Project

Use this site for your next project.

First, working in groups of two, complete Phase I: The General Dissection.

In this portion of the lab, you will have as many opportunities to identify the required organs as time allows (3 days).  While you are learning technique and getting comfortable with your pig you will be able to ask your instructor for confirmation of your findings.  If your teacher informs you that you have incorrectly identified an organ, then you may go back and try again.  Pace yourself during this phase.

Second, after drawing and labeling diagrams, complete Phase II:  The Project Assessment Phase.

In this second phase you will use what you learned in Phase I and then be tested as you work autonomously as a group.  In this phase you will use the manuals and the internet to identify organs.  Your instructors will not confirm your findings until you hand in your final answers.  This will test your ability to critical thinking skills and ability to work independently of your instructor.

Finally, pick an organ system to explore and to present to your class for Phase III.

In this phase your group will select an organ system that no one else in the class has selected.  You will identify all important organs and then present your findings of the anatomical (physical) organs as well as how they work together (physiologically).

RUBRIC on how you will be assessed.

Each pair of partners will turn in one set of drawings and definitions for the pair of them.
